Walking School Bus Volunteer Training

If you are interested in signing -up to be a Walking School Bus volunteer, there is a training in 2 weeks! It's on Wednesday, Sept. 16th, from 9:30 - 10:30, in the Beach Cities Health District lower level conference room. Beach Cities is located just around the corner from Beryl, at 520 N. Prospect Avenue.

This training, in addition to a reimbursable LiveScan (fingerprint), is all you need to be an official volunteer of the Walking School Bus! The commitment is from 7:45 - 8:15 on Wednesday and /or Friday mornings to be able to walk the students on your route safely to school, beginning on Wednesday, October 7th. Quite simple, but yet so important!!! We especially need a volunteer for Beryl's Route 4, which is from the corner of Flagler and Beryl at 7:50 am on Wednesdays and / or Fridays to the school blacktop. (Our volunteer from last year has a middle-school student now.) We really want our 4th route to continue it's existence!!!
Please email your name to me if you'd like to be put on the training list. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at: akmo7@hotmail.com. Rebecca Moore, Beryl Heights Coordinator of the Walking School Bus (WSB)

Our School Vision & Mission

Our Vision

The community of Beryl Heights Elementary School is dedicated to providing an effective learning environment that achieves academic excellence and good character while promoting a healthy, intellectual, emotional, social and physical environment for all.

Our Mission

Students, parents, and staff are encouraged to learn and work together, to take risks and to stretch themselves beyond their expectations. Staff members support and encourage students, parents and each other to accept and find the best in themselves and others. Beryl is a place where everyone learns and everyone teaches. An atmosphere of trust, caring, support and encouragement prevails.

Learning communities work together providing focus, constructive feedback, implementation support and encouragement.

Everyone takes responsibility for ensuring that each student and adult reaches his or her full potential. Students are challenged, supported and encouraged to set goals and take risks. There is a 'can-do' attitude present in classrooms.

A strong partnership between home, school and community exists that recognizes that in order for the school to be successful each child must be successful. The school sees itself as one entity rather than individual classrooms. Everyone is dedicated to doing whatever it takes to ensure that each student is prepared to be the teachers, leaders and dreamers of tomorrow.
