First PTA Meeting

First PTA Meeting Wednesday, September 15th at 5:00PM

The first PTA meeting of the year is going to be held on Wednesday, September 15th at 5pm in the Cafeteria. This is an exciting meeting where we review our plans for the year and welcome everyone back to school. We encourage everyone to attend!

A Welcome from the PTA

Welcome back Beryl Families!

The beginning of a new school year is such an exciting time. It’s fun to reconnect with friends and start anew. I’m honored to serve the Beryl Community in my second and final year as PTA President. Joining me on the Executive Board are Michelle Anderson as Vice President, Elizabeth Parker as Treasurer, Dawn Esser as Secretary, Susi Kaplan as Historian and Kirsten Pollicino as Auditor. I feel blessed to be working with such a talented group of women.

The Beryl PTA has been working hard throughout the summer to prepare for the year ahead. We are excited to serve the Beryl Community and continue our dedication to making the Beryl experience as enriching as possible for all students, parents, and teachers.

We will kick off the new school year with our Membership Drive. This year we are challenging families to “Reach for the Stars” with a goal to increase membership by 10% over last year. An organization cannot exist without members and PTA is no exception. I encourage every member of the family to join. This year we are offering special Membership Packages and a Movie Party incentive for the classrooms with the highest percentage of memberships.

Your Beryl PTA will continue to offer services and programs such as Hands on Art, field trips, cultural assemblies, Talent Show, classroom enrichment funds, Back to School Picnic, Family Fun Night, Jog-a-thon, Walk on the Wild Side, plus so much more. Please join us at Back to School Night, September 15 at 5:00, for our first meeting of the year.

I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact me with ideas, comments and questions. Have a great school year!

About the PTA

The National PTA (National Congress of Parents and Teachers) is a volunteer educational organization, founded in Washington, D.C., in 1897. Branches of the National PTA have been established in all 50 United States, the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands, and in schools for American dependents in Europe and the Pacific area.

The California State PTA (California Congress of Parents, Teachers, and Students, Inc.) is a branch of the National PTA, serving as a connecting link between the national organization and its membership within the state.

District PTAs are geographical divisions of the California State PTA, established to carry out its programs. All PTA districts organized after July 1, 1980, are required to have number designations.

Councils of PTAs/PTSAs are created by the California State PTA for the purpose of conference, leadership training, and coordination of efforts of the member units.

Unit PTAs are organized and chartered in conformity with rules and regulations as prescribed in the bylaws of the California State PTA. These units are self-governing bodies for the purpose of planning programs and activities to meet local community needs. However, they are required to observe policies of the California State PTA and/or National PTA.

Defining the PTA Difference

The term “PTA” is commonly used to describe any parent group, and many parents, teachers, and administrators are unaware of the distinct differences between PTA and other parent organizations.
